Role of CASA Volunteer

Volunteer Requirements

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) train volunteers from all walks of life, ages, and ethnic groups to act as a voice in court for abused and neglected children.

With the constant support, guidance, and supervision of the professional staff of the Brush Country CASA program, volunteers serve as the court's eyes and ears. Volunteers help the judges decide whether a child should stay with the parents, be placed with relatives, or be free for permanent adoption.

CASA volunteers are there when a child needs someone the most. In a system over burdened by increasing caseloads, they make perhaps the single greatest difference to the child affected by abuse or neglect.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Clear criminal record and CPS check
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • One year commitment to the assigned case
